Just for Bhansali

Monikangana Dutta, the tall model, never planned to step out of the modelling world, but she says the opportunity to work with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali enticed her to sign up for Guzaarish.

"I signed Guzaarish because it was a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. I was shocked when he called me himself and the other shock was when he offered me the movie. I readily agreed," Monikangana told IANS.

"I am paired opposite Hrithik and I play his love interest."

Releasing Nov 19, the love story touches the issue of euthanasia and also stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Roy Kapoor.

Before Guzaarish, she had refused movie offers because she didn't want to risk her modelling career by changing professions.

"I didn't want to get involved into movie because I was so involved with my dreamland, my fantasy world, which is modelling. Even when I got plum offers for movies before Guzaarish, I didn't say yes because I was never in India, I was travelling across the world.

"For me, to sacrifice all that and come down here was a huge decision. When you are at the peak of something and you are offered to change your profession, it's really a big step," she said.

While taking acting classes, the model discovered her acting talent.

"It took me more than a year to decide to join movies. Much before Sanjay Leela Bhansali called me, I decided to join Anupam Kher's acting school (Actor Prepares). I believe that one should know what one could do. I wasn't sure whether I would be able to do justice to both modelling and acting. After attending a couple of acting classes, I got to know that I want to be an actor and that's when I got this offer," said Monikangana.

She learnt to face the camera as a model, but was nervous while shooting Guzaarish.

"I was very nervous. Facing the camera was not a big thing for me, the pressure was how well I can act and how well I can do justice to my role," said Monikangana.

Working in the film has introduced Monikangana to some of her personality traits that she wasn't aware of. "I wasn't aware of the fact that I was such an emotional person and so hypersensitive. I didn't realise these things until I played Estella. It has opened a completely new life for me."

But she regrets sacrificing several modelling assignments for the film. As a model she would only be seen in lingerie brand Victoria's Secret show.

"It's a lot of sacrifice. I haven't done any modelling assignment in the last two years. I have left everything for this movie, literally. I am going on a different direction all together. I don't think I will be seen in any other show except Victoria's Secret now," said Dutta.

"I am the first Indian to be one among the six Victoria's Secret angels," she added.

Bipasha to lock lips...

With Hollywood hottie Josh Hartnett in Roland Joffe's Singularity

While it is known that Bipasha Basu has been signed for Hollywood film Singularity with Josh Hartnett. The big news is that she will shoot for some hot scenes with her hot co-star kissing.

The actress, who flew off for Roland Joffe's 35 million dollar shoot last week admits, there will be kissing and lovemaking scenes in the film, and that she's comfortable doing them.

Bips argument is, "If I can do kissing scenes in India then why not for a Hollywood film? I have only kissed John (Abraham) and Ranbir (Kapoor) in Bachna Ae Haseeno - though I tried to wriggle out of that."

Singularity is a passionate love story about an Indian bodyguard and a British soldier set apart in two time zones.

The actress however has some entirely different worries,  "I am a bit unnerved about working with a Hollywood team for the first time, but I am very adaptable and easy to work with, which should make things easier.

This project is something new and exciting for me. Working with Roland and getting a to star opposite a heartthrob like Josh Hartnett is like a dream come true."

Natural look

The actress will be styled by Paul Patterson and they want her to wear minimum makeup, and sport a natural look.

She will be seen doing plenty of action in the film which is set in 17th century India and has the Anglo-Maratha war as its backdrop.

The Bengali Bombshell adds, "I am the queen's bodyguard who is equipped for all kinds of action. I have to learn under water deep sea diving, horse riding, cirque de soli training and fencing - all in a month's time.

I have told them that I am not a magician and can't learn so fast." She is currently in Australia undergoing training for her action sequences, after which the shooting begins.

"I feel like a little  child going to new schools in a different country. I will learn everything."

Farah chooses Bebo over Kat

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan said that vivacious Kareena Kapoor aka Bebo is a better actress than the smothering diva Katrina Kaif on ‘Koffee with Karan’. Farah who was candid enough with filmmaker Karan Johar on his celebrity talk show, openly expressed her opinion about the two hot women of Bollywood.

In spite of having named Kareena the better actress over Katrina, Farah was all praise for the leading lady of her latest flick ‘Tees Maar Khan’. Katrina has impressed her director with her dance and her improved Hindi accent in the Akshay Kumar starrer movie.

And the ‘Tees Maar Khan’ director also said that Katrina looks extremely sexy in the song ‘Sheela ki jawaani’ that she can easily make quick bucks by playing the song at all her live concerts next year.

Now, is Farah trying hard to be modest by covering up her opinion about Katrina’s acting prowess is something to wonder about. But at the end of the day actors must be known for their acting skills isn’t it?

Rs 25 lakh in shopping!

That's roughly the amount Kangna Ranaut blew up while shopping for designer clothes in Paris

Kangna Ranaut has just returned from her whirlwind shopping holiday in Paris. She is back with a suitcase full of clothes from some of the best top fashion houses, having run a bill close to Rs 25 lakh.

The actress, who is styling herself for her next films Tezz and Rascals, feels this is justified. As it is for her work, the damage is not to her own wallet.

She has been encouraged by her directors to style herself as they feel she has a keen fashion sense.

Shopping break

Sanjay Dutt, producer of  Rascals had set aside a huge budget for clothes for the actress and urged her to shop in Paris. The actress was shooting for Tezz in London, and she took a break and headed to Paris, where she shopped to her heart's content.

Kangs has to wear 25 outfits in the film, and she picked up 20 dresses from Paris itself from designers like Chanel, Valentino, Armani, Christian Dior and Givenchy.

She blew up the entire budget allotted. For Rascals, her character of a single girl in New York is inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City. So there are several floral dresses with sexy cuts.

When she landed in the city, Kangs sent the outfits to the film's stylist Rajat Tangri who will put together and accessorise her looks.

Out on the town

Apart from shopping, the actress also found time to sightsee in Paris. She visited the Moulin Rouge, the Notre Dame Cathedral and sat at a cafe on the the Champs-elysees.

Kangna says, "To me, fashion is an expression. I like the looks of different personalities and not just one. I like Rihanna, Posh Beckham, Tarun Tahiliani, Stella McCartney, Alexandra McQueen.

A blend of fashion icons and designers is what makes my fashion style. I loved Paris - it's a very different city."

Aditya nervous working with Ash

After London Dreams, VJ turned actor Aditya Roy Kapoor is looking forward to two films Action Replayy and Guzaarish. He is lucky to have worked with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in both the movies. The 25-year-old who will be celebrating his birthday on November 16 says he could not have asked for a better gift. “I am excited and nervous to have done two films with Aishwarya. I never imagined I would be an actor. I am learning and absorbing everything I can. There’s so much to learn. It’s like going to school,” he says.

While he plays Aishwarya’s son in Action Replayy, he will be seen as her friend in Guzaarish. “I had never imagined I would be doing a movie with Aishwarya Rai and here I am, acting in two films with her,” he says.

“I got the chance to work with the best of actors and directors. I have done two films — London Dreams and Action Replayy with Vipul Shah who is great in his own way and Guzaarish with a genius like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Both the films have been of different genres. Ajay, Akshay and Aishwarya never made me feel like a newcomer. Working with Om Puri was also a pleasure. I used to sit and watch him doing his scenes. It was a delight working with these people. What more could I ask for,” says Aditya.

Shah Rukh sways Rome

Shah Rukh Khan took Rome by storm during his visit for the screening of My Name is Khan at the Rome Film Festival on October 31.

The Bollywood Badshah made an entry with some brightly dressed Indian dancers and the crowds went berserk. He walked the red carpet without Karan Johar who is down with malaria.

The festival organisers say that they haven't heard such shrieks even for the biggest Hollywood names. Must say, Bollywood is going global.

Khans are vulgar: Rakhi

The unstoppable and bold Rakhi Sawant has done it again and she is back in news. This time she is after the Khans of film industry.

Rakhi was questioned about why she is often accused of trying to gain attention everytime by cheap publicity issues but Rakhi was immediate to counter back and quoted as , "People call me melodramatic... but I see Shah Rukh Khan doing such vulgar stuff at award functions."

Ladkon par chadkar baith jaata hai, he talks vulgar, double-meaning dialogues... isn't that nautanki? He is educated but see what he is doing... Why are they after me?”

Rakhi didin’t stopped here as she further stated, “When the Khans (Aamir, Salman, SRK) have their films up for release, ek doosre ki taang kheechne mein lag jaate hain!"

Hope that when this news reaches Shahrukh and Co. they take it sportingly and forget about it and forgive the lady for this quote.

Deepika follows Saif Ali Khan in and out of films

Deepika Padukone might have got her break opposite Shah Rukh Khan, but it’s Saif Ali Khan who makes her go weak in the knees. The actress, who was last seen with chote nawab in ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is too smitten by him.

So much so is Deepika in awe of the actor that she keenly accepts any film that has Saif in the main lead. What’s more is that Deepika even campaigns to get roles in films that have Saif as the main protagonist.

And if sources are to be believed then it was this fascination for Saif that prompted Deepika to accept ‘Race 2’. Reports even suggest that Deepika, who had agreed upon doing a main role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Dreams’, backed out at the last moment when she was informed that Saif was having second thoughts about the project.

Confirming the news a source said, “Saif had reservations about certain aspects of the script; especially, the second half of the story. He expressed his opinions but the writer-director was in no mood to heed to his requests. As a result, he walked out. And Deepika too followed suit.”

Well, looks like Bebo has a new reason to worry.
