Raj's gift to Shilpa on wedding anniversary

Shilpa Shetty spent her first wedding anniversary yesterday in Dubai with husband Raj Kundra at her new home on the ninetieth floor of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

Says a source close to the actress, "Shilpa was thrilled when Raj gifted her the luxury apartment. It's his wedding anniversary gift to her.

He gifted her the keys in Mumbai a week ago. She had visited Dubai a few months ago, had loved the building and expressed a wish of staying there.

The couple has taken a three-day break to celebrate their first wedding anniversary there. Raj also has something else planned for Shilpa - a lavish dinner with a few surprises thrown in."

Shetty will design the interior of the apartment while she's there. She then heads to Bangkok to shoot a shampoo ad on November 26.

And to think, SS's trip to Dubai almost never happened! She had an attack of pharyngitis on Saturday morning. She was to fly to Dubai on Sunday but had to postpone her trip by a day.

The source adds, "Shilpa suddenly developed 103-degree temperature on Saturday night and a bad bout of pharyngitis. Though the fever waned by Sunday evening, her voice has gone (sic) completely.

She was in much pain but they didn't want to cancel their trip. Raj and Shilpa finally left yesterday morning."

Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and IS the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m with 160 floors. The top of the building features a public observation deck and shop. The world's highest swimming pool is located on the 76th floor. The exterior cladding of reflective glazing is designed to withstand Dubai's extreme summer temperatures. Burj Khalifa is home to 1,044 luxury apartments, 49 floors of offices and eventually a 160-room Armani-branded hotel.

Size zero is unhealthy: Deepika

At a time when most Bollywood leading ladies have been toiling tirelessly towards a size zero figure, Deepika Padukone has refused to jump onto the bandwagon.

The actress doesn't want to play around with her weight. "I do not like to work much on my weight because I love food and I cannot keep away from my favourite dishes. I also choose my roles in a way that I don't have to lose or gain weight," she says. The Om Shanti Om actress feels it's unhealthy to rapidly lose or gain weight.

"I don't think it is a good idea to disbalance your diet. People should not ruin their health, it is very important to enjoy life." We hope other celebs learn a thing or two from her.

SRK patches up with Bhansali

It seems Bollywood biggies Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have finally patched up after keeping away from each other for about two years. Shahrukh broke the ice by calling up the filmmaker.

The news is doing the rounds that King Khan called up Bhansali while he was at a private screening of Guzaarish at Yash Raj Studios, and the duo spoke for about 20 minutes. The actor, who has already watched Guzaarish, reported told the filmmaker that Devdas (by Bhansali) was his best film so far. And sources said that Bhansali looked happy after the conversation.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh and Bhansali severed their relationship when their films Om Shanti Om and Saawarya were released on the same day two years ago. They even took a few digs at each other then. But it's passe now, as they have patched up over Guzaarish!

Ash makes fun on Hrithik Roshan !

Even as Hrithik Roshan has been suffering from one or the other health problem after the completion of the shooting of the Guzaarish movie, Aishwarya Rai is doing fine.

In fact Hrithik Roshan's last film was around 14 months back before Guzaarish. But Aishwarya Rai's four films released in 2010 including Raavan, Robot, Action Replayy and Guaarish.

Speaking to a news channel she indirectly made fun of Hrithik Roshan by saying,'In the past two years, only two films of Hrithik Roshan released. But already he is having a lot of health problems due to over-exertion. On the other hand in 2010 alone, four of my movies released and I am fit an fine" she said!

One has to see on how Hrithik Roshan would react to all this. Today he has been discharged from a hospital in Mumbai after he developed an acute allergic reaction to an antibiotic last Saturday.

Hrithik, Katrina's Night Out

Bollywood heartthrobs Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif had a very eventful weekend. Hrithik was spotted at Zayed Khan's marriage anniversary bash and Katrina made an appearance at director Kabir Khan's birthday party. Malaika Arora Khan, Farah Khan, Dino Morea, John Abraham and others were also there. 

Manisha Koirala to split?

The actress posts her thoughts on wanting a divorce five months into her marriage on Facebook, then immediately deletes it. Says she wrote it during a "moment" and that it was "silly"

The social network brings its own share of troubles. In a moment of emotion and/or anger, you end up posting a status that reaches hundreds and then thousands and millions of people in minutes.

Manisha Koirala knows this. Yet last Friday posted on her Facebook that she planning to get a divorce after only five months of marriage and hoped that the decision wouldn't hurt her parents.

Within a a few hours of posting that status, the actress deleted it but the message had gone out into the cyber world and then through word of mouth to everyone.

Concerned friends and well wishers kept calling to the recently-married actress what had gone wrong. Some offered advice, "Things are always bad in the first few months."

While other offered support, "whatever you decide, we are with you.

The shocker

The actress appeared happy after her marriage and had even spoke about wedded bliss after coming back from her honeymoon in Sievi, Finland.

Off and on, she'd keep posting on her social networking account about how helpful and loving her husband was. So friends were shocked at her post.

But soon thereafter, Manisha deleted her post followed but it continued to reflect her state of turmoil (see box). The actress who has had a few traumatic relationships in the past.

Why she deleted it

Friends close to Manisha brush off the rumours. "She is very happy with Samrat (Dahal). Like most normal couples, they must have had a fight and she must have put up the post.

She's very emotional and whenever she's upset, she reveals her feelings. It's nothing serious and by now, I am sure Manya must be regretting putting up the post which is why she deleted it," says a friend Koirala, who is currently in Mumbai for a few days, says, "I am super happy (with Samrat).

I was angry when I wrote that post. Sometimes I just react and write silly things ¦ I deleted the post because I realised that it would be taken seriously."

Vivek Oberoi gets mobbed

He came to flag off a house-building charity here but actor Vivek Oberoi landed up locked in a room for hours as a sea of crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the star.

The Saathiya actor was in Bawana village on the outskirts of Delhi to promote a CSR initiative by Cathay Pacific and Habitat for Humanity, when hundreds of villagers, mostly young guys and girls, thronged the tiny community centre to see him.

The 34-year-old actor was supposed to lay bricks for the foundation of three houses, but the curious mob made it impossible for the event to go on outdoors and Vivek was quickly whisked in before his fans got anywhere close to him.

"I was outside interacting, when the mob increased in number and I was dragged in. I am holed up in here, don't know when I'll be able to get out. My car is just fifty feet away but the way towards it is packed with people," Vivek told PTI.

There were people everywhere, blocking the gates, on the boundary walls and roof-tops. Little kids were hanging from the windows of the room where Vivek was seated.

"You have to constantly tell yourself that it is all because they love you. I enjoy the attention but sometimes the situation gets a little out of hand," he added.

The situation here got so out of hand here that organisers had to call the police to clear the mob and let the actor out.

"We anticipated some crowd to gather, but had not expected such a large turn out. We've had other house-building events before, but this is the first time we have encountered such a thing," said Ashish Kapur from Cathay Pacific.

Ranbir cool over Deepika's condom comments

Bollywood hearthrob Ranbir Kapoor says he's quite open to the idea of former girlfriend Deepika Padukone gifting him a pack of condoms and wishes her all the best for her next film Break Ke Baad.

Deepika had wished to gift him a pack of condoms while talking to filmmaker Karan Johar on his chat show Koffee with Karan. And Ranbir isn't flustered by Deepika's remark and says condoms are one of the most useful gifts as people should be made aware of the importance of safe sex.

"I think she said a good thing. Our country should be aware of safe sex and condom is a means to that. And thank you for that," Ranbir said when queried by reporters on the red carpet of the Teacher's Achievement Awards held here late Saturday.

Ranbir, who got an award in the field of entertainment, said he wished the actress all the best for her film Break Ke Baad, which also stars Imran Khan.

"Best of luck Break-Ke Baad. It seems really nice...you and Imran are a great couple. Looking forward to see the film," he said.

The actor maintains that they share a cordial relationship even after their break-up.

"I have always maintained that. Whenever we meet each other, we are very cordial...I wish her and she wishes me," he said.

Ranbir, in just three years, has reached an enviable position in Bollywood, garnering both critical and commercial success for his films like Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Rajneeti and Anjaana Anjaani. He says he feels overwhelmed when his work, however little it is now, is celebrated.

On receiving the Teacher's Achievement Award, he said: "I really feel overwhelmed when they celebrate my work as I am fairly new and I don't have that much of body of work. It feels great, it feels awesome...acknowledges whatever I have done," Ranbir said.

Imran moves-in with Avantika

All set to wed, lovebirds Imran Khan and Avantika have taken their relationship to another level as they have moved-in together. The couple that will tie the knot in January has decided to live-in much before their marriage.

But it’s no pre-marriage trial that the duo is experimenting with. News has it that Imran’s bungalow is undergoing some major renovations and it’s for this reason that the actor and his mother Nuzhat have moved into Avantika’s home.

Confirming the news, Imran told a daily, “My bungalow belonged to my grandpa (late Nasir Hussain). The time had come to do it up all over again. It required a lot of repair for various reasons. The inside structure is being changed to a large extent. So, now I am staying at Avantika’s house.”

However, Imran aims to restore most of his grandfather’s belongings like his chair and desk. “I am putting them up in my office. I shall be using them. I will never do away with certain things, which are everlasting memories. My grandpa penned so many hit films sitting on that chair and using that desk to write,” adds the actor.

And for living with Avantika, the actor said “What I see in Avantika, I can’t see in any heroine I have worked with. I proposed to her first in our period of dating. It’s been nearly eight years now. It’s not early to get married. Weren’t many stars in Bollywood younger than me when they tied the knot in their respective lives?”

Amrita Rao's sister debuts in Kollywood

Preetika Rao is all excited about her debut in Kollywood. For the uninitiated, Preetika Rao is the younger sister of small time Bollywood actress Amrita Rao. And since news about her debut has surfaced in the media, speculations are rife about why the pretty lady chose a smaller industry Kollywood as her debut platform, when her sister is already a known face in Bollywood. In a recent statement to the media, Preetika Rao seems to have cleared the air by stating that she was not left with much option because it was representatives from Kollywood who approached her with a film offer, rather than the other way round. And considering that the offer was made by a certain Manigandan, the girl could hardly refuse.

Preetika Rao will soon be seen onscreen in upcoming Tamil film ‘Chikku Bhukku’ directed by Manigandan. According to media reports, Preetika Rao came to Manigandan’s notice when a photo of hers was published in a magazine from Mumbai. The debutante confirms the news saying that she was into part-time modeling and was also the editor with a Mumbai based magazine in the columns of which her photo was published.

Preetika Rao says that she is really lucky to be debuting in a Manigandan film in Kollywood, but is also quick to add that she is open to working in any language and in any film industry inside India.
