Preity Zinta to host Guinness World Records!

Bollywood's dimpled cutie, Preity Zinta jumps on the film-stars-doing-TV-shows-bandwagon with Colors' new show, Guiness World Records - Ab India Todega. Keeping in with the promise of putting Indians on the world map, Preity echoes the concept of the show and represents the spirit of new India. The desi version of Guinness World Record will be produced by Miditech Pvt Ltd.

Guiness World Records - Ab India Todega will see Preity guiding Indians trying to break international records and compete with the world-record holders. Apparently, her patriotic streak, innate charm and her exuberance makes her suitable to host the show.

Preity says, "I was sure that whenever I do make a move to the small screen, it would be something I believe in. Guinness World Records - Ab India Todega is the perfect platform for my television debut. The show reflects my ideology to push oneself and compete with the best. There is also a feeling of pride in hosting a show that will put India on the international pedestal and will bring fame for Indians. I am sure viewers will have a good time watching the show."

Sources suggest the show goes on air in March. The source adds, "Every episode will have four to five acts and the contestants will inform the production house as to what act they'd like to perform. The production people will accordingly cross check from the international version if that act has been performed earlier. If the act has been performed earlier the contestant will be asked to break that record and if they succeed they will be declared winner. Contestants can also perform new acts and make new records. Some acts will be performed in the studio while a few will be performed on an open ground depending on the requirement."

Shweta's unique item number

Hottie Shveta Salve, who swooned many by her moves in the first season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, is now having a blast on another reality show Dance India Dance, but this time as a host!

"At times it really gets difficult for me to stay away from the stage while the others are dancing," she says. "I'm very passionate about dancing and now I'm very impressed by the enormous amount of talent our country's got that I see in DID.

It's great to see young boys and girls get out there and show their moves!" says the dusky actress, who's right now most excited about her number in Madhur Bhandarkar's Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji. And it's not just another item number, she says. "It isn't the quintessential item number; it's a nice soft, elegant groovy jazz number which is already getting a great response and I'm glad I did this one for Madhur!" she exclaims!

Dolly, Sara to rumble again!

Sara Khan and Dolly Bindra who didn't miss any chance to take potshots at each other on a recently concluded BiggBoss 4 will be pitted against each other all over again, as if destiny has planned a rehash for them to level the scores.

There's buzz that the loud Bindra will soon enter Ram Milaayi Jodi to essay a pivotal character. Sara is already in the serial. In fact she had replaced the main lead Priyal Gor some time ago.

"Knowing Dolly and Sara's hatred for each other, we can look forward to some fireworks on the show," states an industry insider.

Madhavan ready for Yavarum Nalam sequel

Yavarum Nalam was undoubtedly one of the best horror films in the recent past. Madhavan and Neetu Chandra starrer film by director Vikram Kumar was not only a commerical hit movie but also received good reviews from all quarters. It even did considerably well down in Bollywood.

According to reports, Madhavan had gone for a vacation with Vikram to chill and discuss about the sequel of Yavarum Nalam. When asked about the sequel, excited Maddy said that the team had been planning the sequel for quite some time. Finally things are all set and they will start the shooting very soon.

Like its predecessor, Yavarum Nalam sequel is also made in Hindi and Telugu. He did not reveal more than this and told us to wait and watch how the sequel turns out to be. He signed off by promising that the sequel will be as enthralling as the last one.

Jai Bolo Telangana passes censor test

After creating a stir in the Telugu film industry, Jai Bolo Telangana has passed the censor test with 10 cuts. The movie has received 'A' certificate from the Censor Board.

Bowing down to the pressure from various pro-Telangana groups, the Regional Censor Board sent the movie to CBFC revising committee for re-censor. After watching the movie yesterday, the special committee suggested the director to chop a few scenes. They also reportedly said that if they can cut some more scenes, the movie would get a clean 'U'.

However, Jagapathi Babu and Smriti Irani starrer movie is hitting the screens on February 4.

Katrina's say on the IT raids

She finally reacts to the alleged Six Crores of unaccounted wealth

After the Income Tax raid on Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra's homes and offices on January 24 there's been lots of speculation about what exactly the taxmen found. In Katrina's case, buzz was that the officials recovered evidence of nearly Rs Six Crores of unaccounted wealth. And this seems to have finally gotten a reaction from the star, who had so far not commented on what happened.

An official statement was released by Katrina's chartered accountants on her behalf, and this is what it said, "Day before yesterday a search was conducted by the Income Tax Dept at the residence of my client Ms Katrina Kaif. My client is disturbed by the speculative reports circulating in the media that she has disclosed unaccounted income running into crores and unaccounted lockers were found. The fact of the matter is that no unaccounted income has been declared by her. Katrina is fully cooperating with the IT Dept, whom she holds in high regard."

Well, Kat's made her position clear. Now we've got to wait and see if the IT Department feels the same way. And we're still waiting for a comment from Priyanka on it all.

Kareena goes ethnic in 'Bodyguard'

After sporting chic Western attire for her role as a hairstylist in Karan Johar's Short Term Shaadi, Kareena Kapoor will go ethnic for Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard.

She plays a don's beti in the latter and will mostly Indian traditional clothes including bright kurtas with lots of oxidised jewellery. Bodyguard, directed by Siddique, is an adaptation of a hit Malayalam flick.

 Bebo has been styled by Manish Malhotra for both films. Says a source, "MM has given her a very different look in Bodyguard, as she plays a college-going girl who is also a don's daughter.

So she wears bright and colourful Pakistani long kurtas with block print salwars. Kareena is known to be a fashion icon having started the Geet kurtis in Jab We Met.

This will start a new trend for youngsters too of long Pakistani kurtas with high slits and big ghera salwars."

The Kapoor gal will accessorise with silver antique oxidised jewellery, beaded bags and accessories. "There are lots of metallic and thread work bangles to add an Indian touch. 

 Manish sourced the accessories from Pune, Delhi and Mumbai. Most of the outfits, she will wear, have an embroidered patch with crochet and threadwork.

Kareena has kept her hair long, straight and simple in the film," adds the source.

The original Malayalam flick revolves around a young man Jayakrishnan who adulates anyone with a trace of heroism and offers to be their bodyguard.

A business tycoon Ashokan hires him to follow and safeguard his only daughter Ammu. He follows her everywhere.

To distract him, she calls him from an unknown number claiming to love him. Years later, Jayakrishnan realises that his real lover is Ammu, who's waited for him for so many years faithfully and marries her.

Shaina NC turns chat show host

Shah Rukh Khan is her first guest

Fashion designer, social activist and politician. Shaina NC now adds another tag to her name television host. Her chat show 'India First' premieres tonight on Zee News.

And her first guest on the show is Shah Rukh Khan.

Among her guests are B-Town stars, sportsmen, business honchos and politicians.

Produced by Zee, it is being launched on Republic Day in keeping with the show's theme that conveys the message of unity, prosperity and progress.

Preity tries to break world record, fails

But urges Indians to try out for the show she hosts

Preity Zinta has taken the first step towards her television debut. She has begun shooting for the promos of Guinness World Records Ab India Todega, the show that she will host for Colors.

The actress shot at Film City and tried to break an international record herself!

"Australia ka Derek Boyer ka Guinness World Record aaj main todoongi," she exclaims in the promo while pulling a truck.

She later states: "Chaliye main naa kar saki toh kya hua? India kar ke dikhadega. Ab garv se har Hindustani bolega, Guinness World Record Ab India Todega."

Spirit of new India

The desi version of the international show, produced by Miditech, will air later in the year.

According to the channel, Preity's never-say-die attitude echoes the concept of the show and represents the spirit of new India that is willing to take on the world and prove its place under the sun.

The dimpled star will also guide the Indian contestants who try to break international records and compete with world record holders.

She will also encourage viewers to take the plunge to make and break records.

Preity has been styled by B-Town designer Surily Goel for the show. She says, "I am excited to style Preity for her television debut.

A show like Guinness World Records will be a great platform to experiment with various looks. Her personality is quite sporty, energetic and adventurous, and hence, I will style her keeping her personality in mind.

I have given her a waistcoat over a casual shirt teamed with boots and gloves especially for the promo shoot."

Bigg Boss 4 winner Shweta assaulted

Raja Chaudhary assaulted Bigg Boss 4 winner, Shweta Tiwari, for a fourth time yesterday

Cops reached the end of their tether after Bigg Boss 4 winner Shweta Tiwari lodged a fourth complaint against husband Raja Chaudhary the TV actor infamous for beating up his actor wife and mauling and abusing a number of people for the same old reason.

Fed up with Chaudhary's terror tactics, a team of senior police officers at Malad police station has decided to extern the actor from the city, after he allegedly barged in Shweta's house to assault her, again.

Senior Inspector R Prabhu of Malad police station said, "Raja Chaudhary forcefully entered Shweta's house and assaulted her and her friend Abhinav Kohli."

He added, "As per court order, Raja is not supposed to go to Shweta's residence. But he breached the order. We have booked him for assaulting, trespassing, and abusing Shweta and Kohli.

He already has a number of cases against him, some at Oshiwara police station. And now we will extern him."

Shweta, who approached the police last morning, said, she needed police protection as Raja has been doing this as a routine.

The fourth and the latest complaint lodged by Shweta claims that Raja came to her residence at Shiv Shakti society at Chincholi Bunder in Malad at around 1 am on Tuesday.

"According to Shweta, Raja abused them, as he wanted to take their daughter with him," Prabhu added. Now, Raja is all set to be a tadipar, thanks to the number of cases piling up against him.

Before this, he had created a ruckus at Shweta's house in October, when she was an inmate at the Big Boss house. He had also slapped Kohli and abused Shweta's mother.

Raja, meanwhile, is absconding. "Policemen had gone to search for him at his Lokhandwala residence, but he has fled," Prabhu said.

Incidentally, Raja was detained last year at Sao Paola, Argentina, where he was shooting for a reality show. Allegedly, he was profane to his fellow contestants while inebriated.
