Lara Dutta eyes television!

After launching her health and fitness DVDs, Lara Dutta has her eyes set on the small screen. The actress is very close to negotiating a deal with a leading channel to host a reality show.

While offers have been pouring in from all quarters, she is being extremely choosy about the kind of work she wants to do. Since the producers worked out her schedule in a way that it won't take a toll on her films, Lara was more than happy to take it on. She has also been discussing the project with her husband Mahesh and asking him for tips.

Shilpa: My husband is not cheating!

Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty has refuted reports that her marriage is in trouble, saying that she and her husband Raj Kundra are holidaying in the US. She also says that she is not pregnant.

“First I hear am preggars (NOT true) Now I hear my husbands havin an affair frm the press. Common fr papers 2 stoop low 2 sensationalise false,” Shilpa posted on her Twitter page Tuesday.

There were reports that Kundra had met a gorgeous lady at a hair-transplant clinic in London and later gifted the clinic assistant a European holiday.

But, the 36-year-old actor has denied the reports.

“False news!grrrrrr:( 4 the record, my husband and I are holidaying in USA and r very happily married. Sorry 2 burst the newspapers bubble,” she added.

Is Mallika doing Jism-2 ?

Mallika Sherawat’s tryst with the Bhatts isn’t over just yet. She might have lost the Murder sequel to Jacqueline Fernandes but the Haryanvi babe is now keen to bag Pooja Bhatt’s Jism 2.

Yes, Mallika had a discussion with me about Jism 2, but Pooja will take the final call. She is sharp and will finalise casting,” says filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who also arranged a meeting between Mallika and Pooja. “Mallika and I are good friends despite her blow-hot, blow-cold relationship with my brother and production house (Vishesh Films),” says Bhatt, adding that Mallika never approached him for Murder 2.

Bipasha, who starred in Jism (2003), is out of contention for the sequel as well as Raaz 3, which now stars Jacqueline. Reportedly, the Bhatts were miffed with Bips after she threw tantrums over an item number in Murder 2.

“Definitely, Bipasha and my brother Mukesh have some problems. But I believe in the saying ‘never say never’. Anyway, we (as a banner) don’t necessarily work with stars,” says Bhatt adding he isn’t “really hurt” by the starry attitudes. “I have no delusions that there’s zero gratitude in Bollywood. Everyone has his or her destiny to make. But if you have worked with certain people in the past, you should have basic courtesy to get back to them if they try to get in touch.”

Jackie Shroff bares all!

We're not quite sure why people would want to see Jackie Shroff nude, but for those of you who do, here's news. The actor has dropped all his clothes for a role in the Tamil flick Aaranya Kaandam, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, which is currently running in theatres across Tamil Nadu. However, his naughty bits have been blurred out.

The film ran into trouble when the local scissorhands (the regional censor board) demanded as many as 50-odd cuts before passing it with an 'Adults only' certificate. "Why the fuss about sex in cinema? It is one of the nine rasas of life," philosophises Jackie, whose last role was as Sai Baba. So what was it like going nude for the camera? "It was part of the script and I had no reservations."

While this isn't the first time the actor has stripped (Andar Baahar and Rangeela), he went one step ahead this time because of the role. "I think I have a good physique without working out. My generation never bragged about six-pack abs. We had fit bodies and were comfortable showing it off on screen."

Hrithik Roshan: I am too emotional

Hrithik Roshan speaks about his anxiety as a TV show judge and how he was tricked into singing for his next film

Turning to television for the first time Hrithik Roshan is on a high these days. He is not only having a great time judging the dance reality show, Just Dance, but is also very excited about his next film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

How is TV different as a medium?
TV is an entirely different platform. Films are something I am used to. But television is a different thing. I am still nervous about how I will come across as a judge and if I really deserve to be a judge of such a show.
But the people have been really nice and I hear the TRP has touched 4.1, which is fantastic. I don't really think the TRPs have anything to do with my presence on the show. It is a privilege to be a part of this show.

Is it true that you learnt sign language to communicate with one of the participants' mother?
Oh yes. This boy comes from a family where his parents and sister are deaf and dumb. But if you see this guy, he is such a confident, well brought up child. Coming from such a background, he could have easily taken the wrong path. I wanted to thank the mother for bringing him up so well. And I wanted to speak to her in her language. So I learnt the sign language for half a day so that I could compliment her personally.

How good a judge would you say you are?
I am not sure. The first time I had to eliminate, there were these two girls and I had to ask them to go. I went and hugged them and I felt so emotional when I saw them crying that then I asked the organisers if we can give them another chance. They asked me to shut up. (Laughing) So I am not really sure how good I am as a judge.

How have your sons reacted to your show?
They start dancing the moment the signature tune comes on.

Your next Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara... did it take you back to those carefree bachelor days?
We all huddled together and took the road trip, and it felt like we three friends are actually taking the road trip, with a camera crew just filming us. Not really the bachelor kind of freedom, but it inspires me to take more road trips. Probably, the next one with my family. In fact, Sussanne was so excited about this concept. She was the one who loved the script and got me to sign this film.

So would you say Sussanne is more adventurous than you are?
I think so.

And you also sing in the film...
Well, I was tricked. They didn't tell me that they are going to record the song. They said it is just rehearsals and while I was thinking I am rehearsing the song, they recorded a good part of it and used it in the film.

You don't have a day off till October. Aren't you worried about burn out?
I might. But I am trying to take care, by getting at least six hours of sleep and eating healthy. I have always done one film at a time and here I am, doing three things at once.

Karthi-Ranjani's wedding reception

Veteran actor Sivakumar's son Karthi tied the knot with Ranjani Chinnasamy. The young actor's wedding reception was held in Coimbatore on Saturday (July 2).

None of us missed Mallika: Emraan Hashmi

None of us missed Mallika, says Emraan Hashmi, about the Sherawat girl.

Ekta Kapoor, Vishal Bharadwaj, Milan Luthra — you seem to have emerged quite a favorite outside the Bhatt camp as well.
As an actor, you need to grow and prove yourself time and again. Earlier people said that I could work with only one production house. But now, when these directors show faith in me, it gives me that reassurance as an actor. No one will sign you on, till they know you're worth it. "Dirty Picture" is a controversial subject and doing the film itself is an honor. I think I have silenced my critics.

So your latest film is not exactly the sequel to "Murder"?
No, and it can't be. In "Murder" I died in the end, so technically in the sequel, I would have to be a ghost. The two movies are two different products. While the former dealt with the man-woman relationship, the subject of the latter has all the trappings of a murder mystery.

You've been part of both films. How different is Mohit Suri from Anurag Basu?
There are various ways one can interpret the two of them and their styles. For actors, definitely Anurag is a guy with a slight edge as he is more spontaneous. He keeps us on our toes. Mohit on the other hand, loves working on a bound script.

None of us missed Mallika, says Emraan Hashmi, about the Sherawat girl.

How much did you miss Mallika Sherawat on the sets of your latest flick?
Oh! I didn't miss Mallika at all. None of us missed her.

So, no love lost between the two of you?
Well, it's a film and you have actors who are part of the movie. "Murder" was an important film for me as it was one of my biggest blockbusters. We had a great time shooting for the first film. But along the way, after the movie released, what happened is a different story. But Jacqueline has done a fine job herself and we got along really well.

Mallika went on record to say that she won't be watching this film.
Who said that? Mallika? Well, then she is definitely missing out on something. That's all I'm going to say about it now.

You said earlier, fatherhood has changed the way you see yourself doing movies.
So far, being a dad has not affected my choice of films. I make movies for the audience. Just because I have the additional responsibility of being a father, it doesn't mean I won't do what an actor is supposed to. Of course, fatherhood has brought in a new dimension in my life. Now, I feel the need to cater to my son's sensibilities, because, let's face it, he cannot watch my films till he is 18 (laughs). I want to make films, which my son can watch too. But there is an audience out there and I can't make films for my family alone and not cater to the janta, because then only my family will end up watching them.

‘My kissing scenes restricted to films’

Imran Khan, the chocolate boy of Bollywood, is a happy man these days. He is five months into his marriage with wife Avantika and is looking forward to the release of the much awaited Delhi Belly. He is also one of the few actors who have not been linked with any of his beautiful co-stars. “While working together on a film, my co-stars and I share a good rapport, but then I am like this only... you get portrayed the way you are in real life,” he believes.

About his marriage, he smiles like a Cheshire cat, “I can’t imagine life without Avantika. We have known each other for nine years and have a strong bond. I truly believe that this is the most important thing in any relationship.” This will be put to the test with Delhi Belly, where he has some kissing scenes. After all, not many wives like to see their husbands kiss someone else. But he is confident, “She knows that in filmmaking one needs to do justice to the script. That’s how it is in this profession, but I shall definitely restrict such scenes only to films.”

And what if Avantika was in Imran’s place and had to deliver a similar scene, would he allow it? “Yes, I would,” he answers, adding, “If Avantika was to take up acting and had any such scene, I would not impose any restrictions on her.” He is also a producer’s joy as he does not like to waste money. He says, “Doing a scene many times wastes money and so I always rehearse my scenes repeatedly. I sincerely make an effort not to allow any extra expenditure from my end.” He also follows his uncle, Aamir Khan’s lead, when it comes to charging a fee. “All the big stars like Aamir mamu, Shah Rukh Khan and others follow the same procedure, where, if the film does well then they get a big amount. We also get royalty and that’s how it works. Money is not the driving force for me. I am investing all my time and energy showcasing my talent. Only then will I be able to gain fame and recognition,” he concludes.

Duggu’s craving for a solo hit now

H. U (H) L. L. O. Why the dragging tone? Love, I’m dead meat. The trainer — result of my bad karma — has put me through a gruelling workout. He’s been growling and scowling over my weight gain. Now, I’ve been put on a pani and chai diet — well almost and that’s got me antsy. But at least I have company. Duggu is also stressed out. Ab kya karen, the dishy dude has his umeed pinned on Zindagi Na Mile Dobara. But with Farhan and Abhay accompanying him on this fun road trip, doesn’t look like Duggu will get to hog the limelight. “He is banking heavily on Agneepath, darling,” announces my Bollywood crazy pal. How does she know? It’s no rocket science na? It’s a K Jo movie and he plays the solo lead. Duggu clearly hasn’t learnt from SRK’s mistakes. Well, actually neither has SRK. After Don ki dhulai, he is still working on the sequel, so why blame Duggu alone?

Priyanka takes a break

I feel so sorry for these actresses, sweets. Paisa toh hai but itna tension bhi hai na? Look at bechari Priyanka. Her love life sucks now that she has called it quits with Sasha. Her rivals Kat and Kareena have signed films with her buddy SRK. Even Anouskha has bagged a role opposite Khalnayak Khan. So Priyu did what she thought was a smart move. She started trailing SRK with the perfect excuse of promoting their film Don 2. From accompanying him to matches, to bonding with him in flights, sab kuch kiya but role na mila. So she has done the next best thing: Taken off on a family vacation to the US. At least she will be away from all the prying eyes. Maybe she needs to realign her chakras. I should set up a meeting with my pranic healer for her. She sure could do with some therapy. Hai na?
