Neha to star in a B’wood film

The Pesugiren... singer is excited about her new innings in front of the camera

She has crooned her way to glory with her sultry vocals and made youngsters sway to her Apple Bottoms…, the hit track from her recent album Tabaah, but now, popular singer Neha Bhasin is all set to don the greasepaint. Yes, Neha is making her acting debut in a film directed by newcomer Rakesh Mehta. The film, tentatively titled Zara Hatke Zara Bhatke, also stars seasoned actors like Ranvir Shorey and Kay Kay Menon.

Quiz Neha about her entry into acting and she says, “I don’t know if I’ve gotten into acting. My first love, any day, is music. In this case, the script and my role were very good and the number of days I had to shoot was not very long. I just thought, ‘Why not give it a try?’ and said yes.”

The Pesugiren... singer says that the film is not your typical hero-heroinefalling-in-love kind of film. “It’s a newage film in which there are protagonists, who have their own separate stories. In that sense, I would say my role is one of the lead roles. All the protagonists meet in the climax and their lives get entwined,” she elaborates and adds that she’s having a ball on the sets, “Unlike music videos, in films, you have to pretend some person is in front of you and act, which is very difficult. But, it is fun.”

We haven’t heard her in the south of late and the singer attributes it to being busy with her album promotions. “But I have sung for a new music director, Gibran. It is a folk number and it is the first time I’m singing a folk song in Tamil. One thing I love about working in south Indian films is that the new composers are doing fabulous work.”
