As the world applauds another Sallu triumph in Bodyguard, leading lady Kareena Kapoor is enjoying a quieter, but no less spectacular, kind of success.
Bodyguard’s historic opening has ensured that the film's earnings will cross the Rs 100 crore mark, but what trade watchers are waiting to see, is if it crosses the Rs 200 crore mark — set by Kareena’s own 3 Idiots.
“Frankly, Kareena is now fighting with herself for a place at the top,” says a trade guru.
“She is the only actress with a Rs 200 crore grosser (3 Idiots) and another Rs 100 crore earner (Golmaal 3) to her name. There is no reason why Bodyguard won’t cross the Rs 100 crore mark in its first week itself."
Whether it will surpass the collections for 3 Idiots remains to be seen, but Kareena doesn’t want to talk numbers, saying, "Inshallah, the film should only grow bigger.”
