Salman Khan rushes through his photoshoot to spend time with Kangna Ranaut on neighbouring sets
Salman Khan is quickly growing fond of Kangna Ranaut yet again and how! He rushed through a promotional shoot for Ready at Mehboob Studios recently to spend time with her.
Notes an eyewitness, "He was taking his own sweet time during the photoshoot with Asin. But when a unit hand came to inform him that Kangna was around, he asked the crew to wrap up the shoot soon so he could go meet her."
Says the source, "He's extremely fond of her. The fact that he was extremely eager to spend time with her on the sets, speaks volumes. She, too, was excited about having him around."
Last week, Sallu had surprised everyone by landing up at Kangs' birthday bash at 4 am! And at Khan's India-Australia match bash, she made merry.
This bond looks like it's here to stay.
BYGONES
Kangna has slowly yet steadily distanced herself from Sanjay Dutt. She used to be a regular part of his wife Maanayata's parties, but of late, has kept away.
Says a source, "RK ages from his 20s to the 50s. The different looks are not always visible in the film. It's implied that he ages.
Mostly, he has one look throughout. Ranbir has also grown a little French beard for his character in Burfi for the first time as it goes with the sharpness of his character."
Expanding on the character on Burfi the source says, "Though he is deaf and mute he is also totally wily, humorous and very sharp a go-getter with a wicked streak and warm heart.
He is a small-time crook from Darjeeling always out-smarting the cops. Normally, physically challenged people are shown in a tragic light trying to draw sympathy from the audience.
But he will keep the audience amused with his antics he is too smart a cookie!"
Burfi is a small-town crook of the 1970s. "It's not a contemporary film based in 2011 as the story has a base in the emergency and Naxal movement, though it's just an outline for the story but not the main story. The film will be shot in Mumbai, Darjeeling and Kolkata and is a romantic-comedy."
B-Town is abuzz about the dosti mein daraar between Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. And Hugh Jackman's to blame!
Apparently, Duggu and Sussanne are miffed with SRK and Gauri for not inviting them to the bash at Mannat, held especially for the X-Men star.
The party was an impromptu affair post the FICCI Frames event, SRK's friends made a dash to Mannat immediately after. The Roshans, notably, were absent despite being close friends with the King Khan and his begum.
It came as a big surprise to those present given that the two couples are almost always seen at each other's parties.
A source said, "The Roshans, it appears, were sullen at being left out of the revelry."
Bollywood star Sushmita Sen Monday met the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, to seek his blessings, said an official here.
"She just came to seek his blessings," Tenzin Taklha, joint secretary at the Dalai Lama's Office, told the media.
Dressed in a traditional maroon robe, the Nobel Peace Prize winner presented her 'khata', a traditional white robe given by the Tibetans in honour.
Born July 6, 1935, to a family of farmers in a small hamlet in Taktser in northeastern Tibet, the Dalai Lama fled his homeland in 1959 after a failed uprising and has been staying here since.
A total of 140,000 Tibetans live in exile, over 100,000 of them in different parts of India itself.
Constant link ups with actresses like Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Nargis Fakhri are irking Ranbir Kapoor. He is no longer amused at being painted a womanizer and neither are his parents.
So self-conscious has Ranbir become of his image of the wild lover-boy that he has decided to now gravitate to the other end.
"That isn't me that's being written about. I've had enough. I just want to withdraw from the limelight completely for sometime," said Ranbir, 28.
The actor is currently busy shooting for Imtiaz Ali's "Rockstar" with half Czech-half Pakistani model Nargis Fakhri.
"More than himself Ranbir is embarrassed because of his parents. He can take any kind of flak or rumour. But if his parents get affected, he reacts. And now Ranbir has had enough. He won't take the Casanova image lying down," said Ranbir's friend.
"Ranbir is specially cheesed off by the rumours about Nargis. He has never treated her as anything more than a co-star. Ranbir goes out with her, yes, but only in a group with his other friends."
The friend says there's a valid reason for why Ranbir was seen with Nargis at a movie recently.
"Nargis is under an exclusive contract with Asthvinayak the producers of 'Rockstar'. She can't be seen at public events or at social gatherings with people outside her 'Rockstar' team. Her most logical instinct is to hang around with her 'Rockstar' co-star Ranbir and his friends," said the friend.
Speaking on the much-reported movie where Ranbir and Nargis were spotted together, the concerned friend reveals, "Ranbir was keen to see 'The King's Speech' and not 'Black Swan' as reported in the press with his buddy Ayan Mukerjee. Nargis wanted to come along. Which she did, with a female friend of hers, at the PVR. During interval when Ranbir came out, there were more than 50 press photographers waiting to click him and Nargis together... at 11 p.m.! Who informed the press? Certainly not Ranbir or Nargis or their friends who accompanied them for the movie."
The actor entered filmdom just four years ago with "Saawariya" and has featured in hits like "Wake Up! Sid", "Raajneeti" and "Bachna Aae Haseeno".
Ranbir's friend feels the image of the womanizer is being carried to the extreme and being planted by "vested interests" only to show that the actor is not as serious about his work as his colleagues.
According to the friend, the last straw was Ranbir's link-up with Anushka. After this rumour broke out, Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor finally asked his son to do something about the endless gossip.
Laughed the friend, "Isn't she seeing Ranveer Singh? Why would Ranbir cosy up to someone else's girl? It was reported that he was with Anushka in the backseat of their car. Wrong! Ranbir was in the front seat with his friend Ayan. Anushka was on the backseat with Ranveer Singh. They all drove to the Olive for a meal where they were joined by Shahid Kapoor."
Couple has decided to adhere to professional commitments that require them to be in the same frame
Amidst speculation of them going their separate ways, Bipasha Basu and John Abraham have decided to adhere to professional commitments that require them to be in the same frame.
Notes a source, "Bips and John have been making solo appearances for quite some time now.
While Bips recently revealed a 'crackling chemistry' with her Dum Maaro Dum co-star Rana Dagubatti, John's appearing alone on Koffee With Karan only served to send the rumour mills into a tizzy."
As a couple, the two previously featured in an anti-dandruff shampoo ad. They have now been offered another hair product to endorse together and the news is, that they have said yes.
Reveals the source, "Their contract with an anti-dandruff shampoo brand recently ended. Another brand has offered them big money to endorse the product together. They even shot a TV commercial for it recently.
World champ stunt biker might feature in Saif Ali Khan's project
Indoor streetbike (freestyle) world champion Chris Pfeiffer could possibly make his Bollywood debut in Saif Ali Khan's Agent Vinod, if he wants.
Chris comes from Bollywood-crazy Germany and has visited India before. This time around, he met Saif at the Pataudi Palace in New Delhi."
Says a source, "Chris was keen to meet Saif, who heard of it and immediately invited him over. The biker even taught the actor a few stunts he could use for his film and even offered pointers on shooting the bike scenes."
Saif, who has newly discovered a passion for bikes, says, "Apart from the MV Agusta I was recently gifted, we talked about freestyle biking. Agent Vinod will also feature bike scenes among other stunts.
Whether we work with Chris or someone else remains to be seen. He is a world champion four times over and we may not need someone so great! Chris seemed fun. I hope we can work together in the future."
Pull clout to make sure they catch the Indo-Pak semi-final on Wednesday
Cricket comes first for B-Town biggies. And when it's India and Pakistan in the World Cup semi-finals in Mohali, one can safely imagine B-Town shutting shop for the duration of the match.
So, come Wednesday, some will get their shoots preponed while most will watch the match at home or between extended breaks at work. A few will even watch the match live.
Akshay Kumar
Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and a few of my close friends are coming over to watch the semis between India and Pakistan on the plasma TV in my house. I love cricket. I am not cheering any particular player but I'm rooting for India. Team India has to win!
Aamir Khan (Prepones shoot. Now, from 10 am to 2 pm)
The actor plans to watch the match with his family at home. He made director Reema Kagti whose film he is currently shooting change the timing of the Wednesday schedule making it from 10 am to 2 pm, so that the cast and crew could catch the action.
Sunil Shetty (Will be in Mohali)
"I am a huge cricket lover. Gautam Singhania and I will head to Mohali for the semis between India and Pakistan. I am rooting for Team India and not for any player in particular."
Sanjay Dutt (Can't miss it even though he's in HK)
"Though I love cricket and have watched most of the World Cup matches, sadly for the semis between India and Pakistan I am not there. What a match it will be! I am in Hong Kong shooting for Dhamaal 2. I will watch it somewhere or maybe on the Net. Though I am rooting for Team India, I love Sachin and Sehwag."
Ajay Devgn (Will watch during the shoot)
"I will be shooting for Rohit Shetty's Singham in Goa and will watch the match between breaks. Rohit has promised to wind up the shoot early that day so we can all get to watch at least half the match."
Anil Kapoor (Wants Sachin to crack a ton)
"Yes, I do plan to watch the cricket semis between India and Pakistan as I love cricket. As of now, I'm a bit uncertain of my plans as I have some guests from Los Angeles flying down for a meeting and at night I'm having a small dinner party. I love watching Sachin Tendulkar's game and it would be fantastic if he got his 100th century during this match! I'm happy Yuvraj has struck form and playing brilliantly now. It's also a great opportunity for India and Pakistan to strengthen their ties in this match and make it a friendship match though on-the-field aggression and competition will be there."
Bipasha Basu (Catching it at home)
"I have still not decided where I will watch the match. Maybe, socially or at home with close friends. But am flying back from Kolkata on that day! Cheering for the entire team and hope they make us proud!"
Kareena Kapoor (Hoping for things to wrap up fast)
"I will be busy shooting for Reema Kagti's film with Aamir on that day unless things wrap up fast. Knowing Aamir's around, it probably will!"
Sonam Kapoor (Loves to watch Sachin)
"I don't know yet whether I will be watching the semis or not. I enjoy the game of cricket, especially when India's playing. I love watching Sachin Tendulkar play!"
Imran Khan (Wants a TV on the sets)
"I'm going to be shooting in Madh Island the entire day I'm just hoping our director understands our excitement and puts a TV on the sets."
Deepika Padukone (Watching it in London)
"I will be in London shooting for Desi Boyz. As it is behind India in time, I will get ready early and catch the match before my afternoon shoot. I wish I was in Mohali, catching the action live."
A local court in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh has issued bailable warrant against actor Sanjay Dutt for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by making communal remarks in an election rally during 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
During an election rally for the Lok Sabha polls last year, Dutt, then the general secretary of Samajwadi Party, had allegedly made derogatory remarks against Mayawati.
He had offered to give the Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief, a “jadoo ki jhappi” (a magical hug) and a “pappi” (kiss) on two different occasions.
Judicial magistrate Krishna Kumar issued the warrant yesterday while hearing the matter and fixed May 28 as the next date of hearing.
Dutt, during the campaigning for Samajwadi Party candidate Arshad Jamal in the district, had said in a meeting that he was given third degree when he was in police custody as his mother was a Muslim.
Dutt was referring to his days in jail in Mumbai when he was arrested for allegedly keeping prohibited fire arms.
