These days Anushka Sharma can't do anything right. Is it her new found success that is making her everyone's favourite dartboard?
Or has success really gone to her head? Tales dissing the Band Bajaa Baraat girl are coming from all directions. Almost like she has a Gossip Girl dedicated to her. Here's a list of nasty stories circulating about Anushka...
NEED ME? HAVE TO WAIT! Many filmmakers are cribbing that Anushka has taken scripts from them, but hasn't reverted. She's playing delaying tactics. She isn't giving a definite answer, so they cannot approach other actresses for the role. She knows she's the first choice and hence keeps them hanging. Even in the endorsement space, she mulls over the offer for too long, much to the displeasure of the advertisers.
In her defence: She's just become the toast of the town. She doesn't want to make mistakes and ruin her chances. If she's taking time to decide what films and brands she wants to do, it shows she's serious about her career.
P.S. She needs to be careful that she doesn't rub too many people off in the bargain. It's a fine balance that she has to strike.
TREAT ME LIKE A STAR: Anushka has been demanding the same treatment as her seniors get in the industry. Recently, she made a fuss about not getting the same size van as Shah Rukh Khan, for a high-profile event they were performing at. A tantrum later, she had her way. Detractors sneer that she's getting too big for her boots.
In her defence: Organisers are known to treat newcomers badly. There's no harm in asking for a better or bigger working space. You would too, no?
P.S. She should take care that she doesn't come across as disrespectful to her seniors. Salman Khan still has to forgive Shahid Kapoor for demanding a bigger room than him during a world tour, four years ago.
SHOW ME THE MONEY: Another rant is that Anushka has also hiked her fee big time, and she is demanding the price that an established Deepika Padukone is getting. For another film, she quoted a price that Sonam Kapoor commands. She says that she is a much better actress compared to other newcomers and only a handful of seniors are her real competitors.
In her defence: Sometimes actors quote a ridiculous figure to get out of a project. It's just another (better?) way to say no to a film, without hurting the filmmaker. Also, what's the harm in asking for a fee that you feel you deserve.
P.S. Anushka needs to learn finesse. Big directors and producers have big egos. They believe actors should be willing to work with them at any 'cost.' She has to learn the art of saying no and still sending away a filmmaker feeling like royalty. Or they aren't coming back to her for the next film.
NOT WITHOUT MY ENTOURAGE: She moves around with an army of people and rumour has it that there are two girls on her team, who's only job is to tell Anushka how beautiful she is looking, all day long. This has become a big joke in the industry. They are calling her Snow White and her team of helpers — the dwarfs!
In her defence: There is certainly a Wicked Witch spreading this story. Anushka seems like a level-headed girl.
P.S. Many actors before her have had a team of chamchas. But that is so 60s! Cut down on the baggage. Travel light.
