Mallika Sherawat, who shot to fame with Murder, was left disappointed that the Bhatts overlooked her for the sequel. When the makers then asked her to do an item number in the film, the miffed actor hiked her price to a whopping Rs 2 crore, which the Bhatts refused to agree to.
Our sources, confirming the news, said, “The Bhatts were confident that she would do the song since she received so much popularity for her role in Murder. However, when Mallika acted pricey, they refused to pay her quoted price.”
The source added that Mallika was initially looking forward to doing the lead role in the sequel as well. “She was disappointed when the Bhatts cast Jacqueline Fernandez instead. But she has since moved on and was recently paid the same amount to do another item number in Anees Bazmee’s Thank You.”
Today, Mallika is an international name and has been socialising with Hollywood personalities. But the Bhatts, who have always been making medium budget films couldn’t afford her. “Apart from that, they also wanted to make a fresh start for the sequel since this doesn’t take off from where the first part ends. The first movie ends with Mallika returning to her husband. There was no scope for her now to be featured in the sequel as well,” the source added.
