The boy, who is undergoing treatment for mental illness, also sent her lewd messages
TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor must be used to receiving several calls from fans and job hunters. But the past few days a person kept calling to threaten her and sent her lewd messages.
Surprisingly, police found he is a minor. The Amboli police arrested the boy who is the son of the owner of a well known event management company in Ahmedabad, on Saturday.
According to the police, Kapoor lodged a complaint at the Amboli police station on December 9. “Through the number we came to know that the caller was from Ahmedabad. We found he was a minor,” said sub-inspector Jitendra Kadam.
During the investigation, police learnt that the 16-year-old boy is undergoing treatment for mental illness. “His family was unaware of the calls and messages he was sending Kapoor,” said Kadam.
According to the police, the boy got Kapoor’s mobile number from a relative who works for Balaji Telefilms, her company. “The minor had even met Kapoor at a party and she knows him, though he never disclosed his real identity,” said Kadam.
“The boy was upset with Kapoor as he was not able to talk to her. He began to send abusive messages to her and was very upset that she was not responding,” said Kadam.
The family of the accused was shocked when a team of Mumbai police reached their house to arrest the boy, said Kadam.
The boy wanted to talk to her as his whole family watches her serials religiously. “He told us that he was very excited to talk to her but when she ignored him, he was upset,” said Kadam. The boy was produced in a city court on Saturday and was released on bail.
Despite repeated phone calls and messages to her, Kapoor did not respond.
