Like good wine, Kangna gets better with age

Kangna Ranaut may be the on the verge of turning a mere 24, but in her next release Game, she is playing a character 10 years older than her actual age. While the news has some people wondering if the petite actress can actually play a 30-year-old with conviction, Game’s director Abhinay Deo says if Anupam Kher could play a character double his age in Saaransh, then Kangna can pull off her role in Game too.

“Kher saab was in his mid-30s when he played the role of a retired 65-year-old man in Saaransh. Kangna is extremely hardworking and wants to experiment with challenging roles,” says Abhinay.

Of course, Game didn’t require Kangna to engage in any method acting. Still, Abhinay says Kangna had to go through rigorous preparations for the role of an investigating officer that she plays in the film: “She went through a complete metamorphosis when it came to body language. She has such an incredible screen presence that age ceases to be an issue.”

Kangna, however, dismisses the entire brouhaha over the question of her on-screen ageing, “Ever since the start of my career, I have played mature women in films like Gangster. Even in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, I didn’t play a teenager.”
