Akshay Kumar Masterchef India in legal soup

Star Plus new show ‘MasterChef India’, which is to be hosted by Akshay Kumar, is in a legal soup even before it has started airing. A resident of Mumbai, Prakash Rohra, has sent a legal notice to the channel for using the title ‘MasterChef’. According to Prakash the title belongs to him and the channel has used it without his permission.

“The title ‘MasterChef’ belongs to me. I had registered it seven years back and Star Plus has misused my trademark. Now I will take legal action against the show,” says Prakash, adding, “I had registered the name on 1/ 5/ 2003 at the trade mark association under government of India.” Prakash has in fact already sent a legal notice to the channel. “I sent them a legal notice on the 12th of this month ( October), but till now I have not received any reply. I will now go to the High Court with this case. The channel has stolen my title and I will not leave them,” Prakash says angrily.

A Mumbai resident, Prakash Rohra, has sued Star Plus for using the title ‘MasterChef’, which he claims he had registered some years back; channel officials, however, stay mum.
