The district administration is likely to ban the shooting of the fourth season of Bigg Boss at a bungalow in Lonavla, citing law and order issues, as the Shiv Sena’s aggressive agitation against the show continues. “We are checking out legal aspects on how the shooting can be stopped to maintain law and order. A decision [on serving a notice] will be taken soon,” R K Gaikwad, acting district collector, said on Friday.
Officials with the district administration said the collector would ask the channel to present its viewpoint within 48 hours.
“A notice will be sent to channel’s Mumbai office and will also be stuck at the Lonavla bungalow gate,” the source said, requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
Sainiks started their protests outside the bungalow after Sena chief Bal Thackeray objected to the inclusion of two Pakistani actors in the show.
On Friday, the fourth day of the stir, two Lok Sabha members from Pune, Shivajirao Adhalrao-Patil and Gajanan Babar, led the agitation, which mainly included women activists who managed to enter the bungalow premises by jumping over barricades and an iron gate guarded by police personnel and private security guards.
Adhalrao-Patil and Babar were allowed to enter the bungalow, where they spoke to Colors channel representatives, who said they did not have the authority to call off the shooting.
The duo left after a telephone conversation with Gaikwad.
“He has assured me that he will take necessary and appropriate steps immediately,” Adhalrao-Patil said.
At least 50 Sena workers were detained; they were released later. After the saffron brigade issued a 48-hour ultimatum to stop the shooting on Thursday, Pratap Dighavkar, district superintendent of police, sent a report to Gaikwad, who is responsible for the law and order situation in the district.
On Friday, Gaikwad confirmed that he had received a police report. The Colors channel spokesperson refused to comment on the issue.
“The show will get affected immediately if shooting is stalled.
The channel does not have a bank of episodes as the show runs on ‘deferred live’ footage,” a source said.
Will the show get affected? Bigg Boss runs on ‘deferred live’ footage, that is, it is aired a day after it is shot. The Friday episodes are an exception as the elimination is shot and telecast on the same day.
If shooting is banned in Lonavla, the channel can run the show for a day or two more, depending on the day from when shooting is discontinued. If it gets banned on a Friday, only quarter to a half-day footage will be left.
