Let exhibitors decide the ticket price

Actor Kamal Hassan has voiced his concerns for the entertainment industry in India, saying that it is high time that the government of the country sit up and take notice of the taxes and the laws governing the film and television sector in India.

Speaking about the market and the financial conditions in which the producers of Indian films have to work, Kamal says that it will be a good decision on the part of the government, if they let exhibitors of different films made in India decide the prices of the tickets that the viewer has to purchase while watching the film in the theater.

But will such a step taken by the government help to solve the problem, which several producers and directors are currently facing in India? Kamal says that he knows about the fact that producers and directors often complain about the whopping fees that the actors charge for performing in one film. But it is also to be kept in mind that an actor is paid only that much which his films can draw back to the producer’s coffers. Moreover, an actor has no post retirement benefits and actors will not be assured any pension if he stops acting.

However, Kamal Hassan is awaiting the release of his upcoming Tamil movie Manmadhan Ambu, which is all set to release on December 17.
