Move over Munni... and Sheila..., the new item song in tinsel town is ready to scorch the screens this summer. If the teaser of Deepika Padukone’s item in Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum is any indication, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. It is learnt that she started preparing for it from the day after she signed up for the Pritam-composed track in the film toplining Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and south star, Rana Dugabatti.
All those who have had a dekko of it, swear that Padukone’s song, with a heady mix of sex and drugs in the lyrics, is sure to set the screen ablaze.
Interestingly, Sippy had briefed the choreographer to ensure that it was the hottest number this year and conveyed the same to Padukone too. No wonder, stylist Anahita Shroff Adajania has created one of the shortest outfits for the actor, who even got a temporary Dum maaro dum... tattoo on her stomach.
When contacted, Bosco diplomatically says, “We certainly want the track to reach at least the level set by Munni and Shelia.” About the choreography, he says, “We’ve used a new form of aggressive dance called Krumping. It is very fast-paced and not easy. Apart from your body, you need to work your mind on it.”
The choreographer, who has previously teamed with Sippy for Right here, right now... for Bluffmaster (2005), enthused that they’re excited about venturing into a new style of dance. “After packing up her other shoots at 10 pm, Deepika rehearsed till 1 to 2 am for three days. It took us a month and a half to plan the entire sequence with Rohan, Anahita and Pritam to conceptualise the track in a jungle-like setting with the waterfalls etc. You’ve got to see it to believe it,” he says.
