The year 2010 has gone and 2011 has arrived with lots of expectations and hope. Telugu film industry, which gives a few big hit movies every year, has ended the year on a decent note. It has witnessed many ups and downs but still managed to give some superhit films. It faced huge competition from dubbed films of other languages and close to 135 straight movies were made in the year.
With the entry of many young bloods, even big stars have started trying to adapt to the changing taste of the audience. Many of them experimented with their looks, body language etc. but only a few convinced the audience. Oneindia.in conducted a poll to give its readers a platform to choose the best film, actor, actress, musician and director of the year, and the viewers have given an overwhelming response. Here, we bring you the final verdict given by Tollywood movie buffs.
Best Movie of The Year: Vedam
Audience has voted Vedam as the Best Movie of The Year and it has got 51% votes. It has overtaken Brindaavanam, Leader, Rakta Charitra and Don Seenu. Krish directorial film is one of the biggest hits of the year. The movie is a cocktail of five different interwoven stories. The gripping story, excellent dialogues, good music and performances of the lead actors made the film an instant hit.
Best Actor: Junior NTR
Readers must have had a tough time picking the best actor among Junior NTR, Rana Daggubatti, Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja and Surya, as they are all big names. But in the end, it is NTR, who has got the last laugh. His histrionics in Brindavanam have pushed him to top position again. His dialogue delivery, comedy timing and action sequences in the film got thumbs up from the audience and has received 49.6% votes. Coming back to the other stars, Allu’s role of Cable Raju in Vedam and Surya’s portrayal as Maddelacheruvu Suri in Rakta Charitra have also received good responses. Rana starrer political thriller Leader became a perfect launch pad for the debutant and he has proved that he is a promising actor.
Best Actress: Anushka Shetty
Anushka Shetty has been chosen again as the Best Actress. She has topped the chart again by getting 49.6% votes. The actress, who has been getting equal footage with lead actors after Arundhati’s success, has won the hearts of the audience with her role of prostitute in Vedam. Her innocent looks and vulnerability are the highlights of her character in the film. However, Samantha (Ye Maaya Chesave), Kajal Aggarwal (Arya 2), Nayantara (Adurs) and Priyamani (Golimaar) were the other contenders for the top spot. However, Samantha and Kajal had also earned rave reviews for their performances, but their roles were limited to dancing around the trees.
Best Music Director : Harris Jayaraj
The mega-budget movie Orange can only be satisfied with one honour and that went to Harris Jayaraj for composing foot-tapping numbers in the film. The movie, which failed miserably at box-office, had completely mesmerized the youths with catchy tunes, thus creating much-hype in film industry. It got 42.7% votes from our readers. Oscar award winner AR Rahman compositional Ye Maaya Chesave lost to Orange by a small margin. Nonetheless, both have topped the Tollywood charbusters of the year. GV Prakash (Darling), Gurukiran (Nagavalli) and Thaman S (Brindavanam) were also nominated for the Best Music Director of 2010.
Best Director : Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish)
Big names like Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, Ram Gopal Varma, Sekhar Kammula, Gautham Menon and Gopichand Malineni were competing each other for Best Director category and our readers have voted Radha Krishna for the film Vedam. He has received 32.5% votes. His wonderful subject, fantastic screenplay, dialogues, timing of songs and direction have altogether have impressed the audience.. His close contender is Kammula for his politician backdrop film Leader. Tight narration and witty dialogues had touched the pulse of the audience and undoubtedly the movie is one of the bests of 2010. However, Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, Gautham Menon's Ye Maaya Chesave and Gopichand Malineni's Don Seenu are the other nominated movies in this category.
