Kangna quits fashion for good

After attempting to design her own clothes for two films, the Fashion girl has decided not to pursue styling anymore

On October 5, 2010, Mumbai Mirror broke the story that Kangna Ranaut had decided to design her own outfits in films.

Kangna in fact tried her hand at it as well. She designed her outfits for her role in David Dhawan’s Rascals (produced by Sanjay Dutt) and Priyadarshan’s Tez (earlier titled Bullet Train and produced by Ratan Jain).

However, the latest is that Kangna has aborted all plans of designing now. “She has realized that she can’t do justice to two professions at the same time,” a very close friend of Kangna’s told this paper.

The realization dawned on the actress when she started feeling very drained after shooting for Rascals and Tez. Added her friend, “Pehle usko laga ki who kar payegi. But after she got into it, she noticed that she hadn’t done the right thing. Styling clothes for films today isn’t what it used to be in the past.

A lot of attention is paid to material used, exquisite accessories etc. Apart from acting Kangna was having to put in double the amount of work into styling her own clothes.”

The quantity of work thus began to sap Kangna out completely. Added the friend, “Filmmakers wanted official presentations of the clothes designed by her. At times the number would exceed to eight or ten pairs of clothes. As a result, Kangna had to travel and shop for hours.”

While that may seem like a blessing in disguise to many women, it drained Kangna out completely. Though the filmmakers were happy with her work and she was being paid well for it, Kangna could not cope with the fatigue, according to the source.

But what happens to Ranaut’s plans to launch her own clothesline? “That also has been put on hold,” revealed her friend. When contacted, Ranaut confirmed that she had aborted her plans to design. “I styled my clothes for two films. That’s it. Not anymore. I experimented with what I felt I should pursue. But nahin ho raha hai. Maybe I’ll give it another shot in the distant future.”
